Hi! My name is Kate. Lover of food, animals, and all around subsistence living. My husband and I live on a small, neglected 1700's New England farm that we are working to restore the land to usable pasture. We raise Red Ranger chickens, Nigerian Dwarf diary goats, Berkshire pigs, and a variety of laying hens, turkeys, and waterfowl. We work hard to raise all of our own meat (with the exception of the beef my father in law raises for us) and are proud to say we don't support factory farming. In addition to animals, we keep a large garden and variety of fruit trees and bushes, and I am a fanatical canner and preserver to stock up for the winter months.
When I am not working my full-time day job and busy with all around farm life, I am a contributing writer and photographer for publications such as GRIT, Countryside, and Backyard Poultry Magazine. Join me on my homesteading journey, filled with good food, lots of animals, and hard work!
